Sometimes the biggest wins start with a “why not?” Just ask CSN cybersecurity student — and new dad — Jeffery Aragon.
Earlier this fall, Jeffery applied for a national mentorship program with CrowdStrike, one of the top names in cybersecurity. He hit submit and didn’t think much of it. Fast forward, and he’s now one of a select group of students across the country chosen for this amazing opportunity.
The program pairs students directly with a CrowdStrike cybersecurity pro for coaching, career advice, and even a free shot at the National Cyber League competitions this fall and spring. It’s the kind of hands-on experience that opens real doors in the industry.
“I applied for this program with no expectation of being selected,” Jeffery said. “But my best effort proved that you should never underestimate your potential and just apply for programs since you just might get a chance. This program is far more than just a partnered mentorship to me; it is a direct pathway to my goal of becoming a cybersecurity pro.”
Jeffery’s already juggling a full schedule. Along with classes, he works as a part-time Student Concierge with CSN’s Virtual Equity and Sustainability Labs, helping community members with tech support. And of course, he’s also balancing the brand-new adventure of fatherhood.
His faculty mentor, Karen Ahern, said Jeffery’s commitment shows in everything he does — in the classroom, with his peers, and in the community.
This achievement isn’t just a résumé line. It’s a reminder to every student who wonders if they’re “good enough” to go for it anyway. Jeffery took his shot, and now he’s one step closer to protecting the digital world.
And honestly? We couldn’t be prouder.
