CSN Connections Lives Up to Its Name

CSN hosted one of its largest gatherings of the semester, CSN Connections, on Sept. 9 at the June Whitley Building.

The purpose of Connections was right in its name: bringing students, staff and community
members together. Whether someone came looking for career opportunities, educational
guidance or simply a free meal, the event offered something for nearly everyone.

Inside the building, students filled the room with conversation and energy as they moved
between booths, played games and competed for prizes. Each booth provided an opportunity to
learn more about CSN clubs, academic programs and upcoming community events.
Some students used the event to begin planning their futures. Representatives from the
National Guard and local Las Vegas police spoke with attendees about potential careers and
answered questions one-on-one.

Other booths focused on education and training. Transfer representatives from UNLV and the
University of Nevada, Reno were available to help students considering their next step after
CSN. A local Las Vegas welding organization also presented an alternative path for students
interested in gaining hands-on experience and specialized training.

Despite the number of academic and career opportunities available, Connections was also
about enjoying time with the people who make up the CSN community. Students met new
classmates and staff members, started conversations about school and life and shared freshly
prepared food.

The smell of hot dogs and burgers filled the space as attendees lined up for free meals, drinks
and chips. Whether someone stopped by with a specific goal or simply wanted to look around,
the event made sure everyone felt welcome and was taken care of at no cost.

What stood out most was the range of people and opportunities gathered in one place. Students
arrived with different interests, backgrounds and plans for the future, but they shared a
willingness to meet others and discover something new.

No matter who attended or why, the room was filled with a sense of passion and drive to make
both individual lives and the wider Southern Nevada community better.
