A Key Moment for CSN: State of the College Address
CSN’s State of the College Address brought our community together Sept. 9 for an afternoon focused on gratitude, momentum and the road ahead.
Classically trained vocalist Benjamin Clayton opened the program with a soaring performance of the national anthem, bringing notes of opera to the Horn Theatre. Mariachi Plata then took the stage and filled the room with energy. And we truly could not have asked for a better emcee than Shaundell Newsome, who brought his signature humor and love for the Southern Nevada community to the event.
The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the first Keys to CSN, honoring four mayors whose partnerships and support continue to make a meaningful difference for our college and our students:
- Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley
- North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown
- Henderson Mayor Pro Tem Monica Larson
- Mesquite Mayor Jesse Whipple
Each mayor received an oversized gold Key to CSN in recognition of their key partnerships with the college. Having all four leaders join us for this special moment meant so much to the CSN community and reflected the strong relationships that help our students and Southern Nevada move forward.
CSN President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein also shared his vision for the college’s future and the momentum building across CSN. That vision is beginning to take shape, and there is a growing sense of excitement about where we go from here.
Guests left with their own much smaller, and considerably more cuddly, keepsake. Little stuffed coyotes were handed out as a token of appreciation to everyone who attended.
Thank you to our students, faculty, staff, elected officials, community partners and guests who helped make the State of the College Address such a memorable occasion. This was more than a look at where we are today. It was a celebration of the partnerships, people and possibilities shaping what comes next.
