On Friday, Feb. 20, CSN will host its inaugural Open Education Resources Professional Development Day, “Opening Doors: OER & Student Success at CSN,” from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom on Charleston campus.
If you’ve ever had a student tell you they’re “waiting on the book” or trying to get by without it because of cost, this event is for you.
The day will spotlight how open and low-cost, zero-cost course materials can remove barriers for students, support stronger learning outcomes, and help faculty build courses that are more accessible from Day 1.
Attendees can expect a mix of real talk and real takeaways, including:
Student voices sharing how textbook costs impact their learning
Data and outcomes that show what happens when OER is adopted
Faculty perspectives from colleagues who have already made the switch
United Nations Fellows highlighting how this initiative is creating opportunities at CSN
Practical “how-to” support for anyone interested in implementing OER in Summer or Fall 2026
Faculty can register now at tinyurl.com/CSN-OER2026 or scan the QR code on the event flyer.
