CSN Joins Statewide Eyes Open Campaign
Keeping our campuses safe is everyone’s responsibility, and a new statewide campaign is encouraging the CSN community to stay aware, recognize concerning behaviors and speak up when something doesn’t seem right.
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13, CSN will join colleges and universities across the Nevada System of Higher Education in launching Eyes Open, a safety awareness campaign built around one simple message: Know the Signs. Make the Call.
The campaign is designed to help students, faculty and staff recognize potential warning signs and understand when and how to report concerns before situations escalate.
These signs may include threats of violence, aggressive or significantly changed behavior, talk of dying or killing, weapon-related violations or actions suggesting preparation for violence.
But the campaign also emphasizes an important distinction: No single behavior automatically means someone poses a threat. The goal isn’t to encourage people to investigate or make judgments about others. It’s about recognizing when something may warrant attention and allowing trained campus professionals to assess the situation and determine the appropriate response.
For faculty and staff, who regularly interact with students and colleagues, awareness can make a meaningful difference. Reporting a concern may help connect someone with needed support, address a potential safety issue or prevent a situation from escalating.
Students will receive an email introducing the campaign Oct. 12, followed by the statewide public launch and social media awareness efforts Oct. 13.
