2026 Juried Student Exhibition and Salon de Refusés

The College of Southern Nevada Fine Arts Gallery will present our annual Juried Student Exhibition beginning Friday, May 15, 2026, through Saturday, June 20, 2026. A reception with refreshments, an awards ceremony, a gallery talk, and a Salon de Refusés will take place on Friday, May 15, from 6 – 8 p.m. This exhibition will feature student artwork made in connection with CSN Fine Arts Department, Art and Art History Program courses with media including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, metals, ceramics, jewelry, and design.
This year’s exhibition will feature guest judge, Mr. Scott Dickensheets. Dickensheets has written about art and artists at every stage of a 40-year career that’s taken him all over the Las Vegas media map. He’s been a daily newsletterist for City Cast Las Vegas, features editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, deputy editor of Desert Companion magazine, editor in chief of the local alt-weeklies CityLife and the Las Vegas Weekly, managing editor of Las Vegas Life magazine, and an editor and columnist at the Las Vegas Sun. He edited, co-edited, or contributed to nine volumes of the Las Vegas Writes book series, curated the 2015 exhibit Transient Landscapes for Nevada Humanities, and is a long-serving member of the Las Vegas Book Festival’s programming committee.
The 2026 Juried Student Exhibition will feature awards with anticipated prize values totaling $1,800 or more courtesy of Blick Art Materials, Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, and BibliU, CSN’s new bookstore provider. A Salon de Refusés will take place in conjunction with this exhibit in the CSN Horn Theatre Lobby on the first floor of the CSN North Las Vegas campus, Main Building, “H” Wing.
The CSN Art Galleries would like to thank its guest judge, Mr. Scott Dickensheets, and its outstanding community partners, Blick Art Materials, BibliU, and Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, for their generous support of this exhibition and our students.
The CSN Fine Arts Gallery and all gallery events are free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The Fine Arts Gallery and Horn Theatre lobby are located at the half-circle drive near CSN’s main entrance, on the North Las Vegas campus at 3200 E. Cheyenne Avenue, one mile East of I-15 North.
