Virtual Exchange

Connect with the World—Without Leaving CSN

The College of Southern Nevada believes that global learning should be accessible to every student. Through Virtual Exchange, CSN students and faculty collaborate with partner institutions around the world using digital technologies to engage in meaningful academic, cultural, and professional experiences.

Whether you are a student looking to broaden your global perspective or a faculty member interested in internationalizing your curriculum, Virtual Exchange provides opportunities to build international connections, develop intercultural communication skills, and collaborate on real-world projects—all from your classroom or home.

What is Virtual Exchange?

Virtual Exchange (VE) is an educational approach that connects students and faculty from different countries through structured online collaboration. Participants work together on shared learning activities using video conferencing, learning management systems, collaborative documents, discussion boards, and other digital tools.
Virtual Exchange can take many forms, including:

  • Collaborative classroom projects
  • Faculty co-teaching across institutions
  • Student discussion groups
  • Joint research or presentations
  • International guest lectures
  • Cross-cultural dialogue and problem-solving activities

Programs may last from a single class session to an entire semester and may include both live (synchronous) and self-paced (asynchronous) interactions.

By bringing international experiences directly into CSN classrooms, Virtual Exchange makes global learning more accessible for students who may not be able to study abroad due to financial, work, family, or personal commitments. Students gain many of the same intercultural skills and global competencies as traditional study abroad participants—without the cost of international travel.
