Help Make CSN Safer After Dark: Volunteers Needed
What does your campus look like after the sun goes down? CSN is looking for volunteers to help answer that question and make our campuses safer for everyone.
Each fall, CSN’s Environmental Health & Safety team, University Police Department and Safety & Security Committee organize Nighttime Campus Safety Walks to see our campuses through the eyes of students and employees who attend classes or work after dark.
And sometimes, a fresh set of eyes can make all the difference.
Volunteers will work in small teams to identify potential safety concerns, including burned-out lights, overgrown landscaping, confusing signage, walkway and parking hazards, and issues with emergency call boxes or cameras.
Why does this matter? Something as simple as better lighting or clearer signage can make a meaningful difference for someone walking to their car after an evening class. These walks help identify concerns that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Join a Campus Safety Walk
All walks take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Volunteers will meet in Student Union Room 123 at each campus.
- Monday, Nov. 16: North Las Vegas campus
- Wednesday, Nov. 18: Henderson campus
- Thursday, Nov. 19: Charleston campus
You don’t need to be a safety expert to participate. Just bring a willingness to help and an eye for things that could be improved.
