ICYMI: Conversations with the President Recap
Dr. Klip held his latest “Conversations with the President” forum on Wednesday, March 11, and if you missed the hour-and-a-half session, here’s the short version: a lot is happening at CSN and most of it is good news.
The forum covered everything from Board of Regents updates to a long-awaited announcement that CSN is actively working toward a campus in the Northwest Las Vegas valley. Much of the conversation gave faculty and staff a look at the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the college moving forward.
On the recognition front, CSN earned a nod for its Achieving the Dream designation, 23 faculty members were congratulated on receiving tenure, and NISOD award winners were celebrated. Joseph Ogden, Angela Spires and Denesha Moore were recognized for their Regents’ Award nominations, and Frank Woodbeck was honored with an honorary degree.
Strategic planning also took center stage. Jyoti and Kevin shared updates grounded in three values: synergy, transparency and celebration. The response from campus has been strong with 65 nominations came in from people wanting to join the strategic planning task force, which says a lot about where this community is right now.
CFO Lisa Bakke closed out the session with a budget update, giving faculty and staff a straightforward look at COLA considerations and state operating budgets. Nothing alarming, just the kind of transparent financial picture CSN is committed to sharing with its community.
The full recording is available to watch now. It’s worth the time.
