June 2026 AFA Employee of the Month
Awarded to: Dr. Daniel Alvarado
Title: Director, Disability Resource Center
Dr. Alvarado is the true definition of sunshine. Although he works in the DRC, he is intentional about sharing that sunshine with the entire campus community. His daily words of affirmation are a consistent source of encouragement, and I can always count on them to boost my mood. To some, this may seem like a small gesture, but it truly makes a meaningful difference.
In a space where we are constantly producing, supporting others, and holding space with care and grace, we often forget to offer that same kindness to ourselves. Dr. Alvarado serves as a gentle but powerful reminder to pause, take care of ourselves, and acknowledge our efforts. He encourages us to celebrate our wins—both big and small—and to practice gratitude toward ourselves and those around us.
His affirmations remind us that while work is something we do, it is not who we are. In moments when we get bogged down by responsibilities and expectations, Dr. A’s words help re-center us. I am deeply grateful for his thoughtfulness and the positive energy he brings to our community. His intentional encouragement inspires us all to pause, reflect, and celebrate ourselves a little more.
