Run. Hide. Fight. CSN Hosts Hands-On Safety Training
Faculty and staff are invited to take part in an Active Assailant 8-Hour Hands-On Training on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Charleston campus, Student Union rooms U126 and U128.
Hosted in partnership with University Police, this training centers on preparedness, awareness and action. Through scenario-based instruction and guided movement activities, participants will walk through the “Run. Hide. Fight.” response model and practice decision-making in high-stress situations.
A quick heads up for the rest of campus: You may hear simulated noises or notice increased law enforcement activity in and around the Student Union that day. This is a scheduled training exercise. There is no active threat. If you hear commotion, it is part of the learning environment, not a real emergency.
The training is open to students, faculty and staff. Seating is limited, registration is required and a pre-test must be completed in advance. Participants must attend the full eight-hour session to receive credit, and you will need to bring a laptop, tablet or cellphone for the post-test.
If you have ever thought, “I hope I never need to know this,” that is exactly the point. We hope you never do. But being prepared is one of the best ways we can take care of ourselves and each other.
