Sonya Pearson Ph.D., J.D.
Vice President, Charleston Campus

Dr. Pearson brings nearly 30 years of experience in higher education leadership and working within single and multi-accredited community college systems. Dr. Pearson leads the campus management team and is accountable for key outcomes related to the strategic leadership, goal alignment of campus initiatives and programming to support the mission and vision of the College, in correlation with developing strategic partnerships.

Dr. Pearson has held numerous leadership positions within the community college system including, Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer, Dean of Conduct, Executive leader for community outreach, workforce development, adult-basic education, diversity, equity and inclusion, study abroad, student basic needs programs, and managing credit /non-credit programs. Dr. Pearson earned two doctorate degrees, two certificates from the Harvard School of Business, former licensed professional counseling certification, teaching experience and cross-functional senior and executive leadership roles. In addition, Dr. Pearson has been invited to serve or elected to leadership roles with municipal, state, and national projects, boards, and committees.
